Understanding Search Results
Number of Results
At the top of the page, you will see the number of organizations or programs that your search found.
If the number is large, you might want to set more specific search criteria. If the number is small, you might want to be less specific. Go to Help - Improving Search Results for tips on how to narrow or broaden your search.
Sorting Results
The organizations or programs are listed on the left in alphabetical order by name. The location of each organization or program is listed on the right. To help you find services near you, we have divided the City of Toronto into 15 geographical areas (e.g., Etobicoke North, Toronto Central). You can see these sub-areas on a
If you click on "Sort by Location" at the top of the list, the organizations or programs will be re-sorted and listed in alphabetical order by location. To return to the original order, click on "Sort by Organization Name."
When sorting by location, keep in mind that organizations or programs may serve communities other than where they are located. For example, if you are in Etobicoke, you may be eligible for services that are located in Etobicoke, Toronto, York or other communities.
Display Options
For more details on an organization or program, click on its name to access the full organization or program profile. When you are looking at the full profile, you can click on the label beside each piece of information to see a definition. For example, click on Eligibility to learn what type of information you will find beside it. To read all definitions, go to the Glossary.
Updating Information
If you find information that is incorrect or out of date, you can send us an update. Click on the Update Information button at the top of the profile.
Subject Matches
You will often see a list of subjects in the left sidebar. The number of results associated with each term will be displayed. This list can help you broaden or narrow your search. It can also help you find services that are on subjects related to the subject you were initially looking for. Just click on any of the terms in this list to run a search for that subject.

An Exact Match tells you that impaired hearing is a subject that has been assigned to 20 records on 211Toronto.ca.
Broader Terms

You can broaden your search to include all types of physical disabilities, including impaired hearing.

You can narrow your search to a specific type of impaired hearing: deafness.
